A shared web hosting service  refers to a web hosting service

where  websites reside on one or more web server connected to the Internet.

In partition, or section on the server, this is to keep it separate from other sites. Shared web hosting

is the most economical option for hosting, as many people  will share the overall cost of server maintenance.

The hosting service include system administration as it shared by many users, this will help  users who don't deal with it.

Standard web server work well with a shared web hosting service. Shared

hosting is cheaper than other types of hosting compare to dedicated server hosting.Shared hosting

has a usage limits and hosting providers should have extensive reliability features working in place.

Shared hosting services offer basic web statistics support, email and web mail services, auto script

installations, updated PHP and MySQL, Advance shared hosting offers

monthly subscription, you can find free in rare occation but with limited support. It also uses a web-based control panel system, like cPanel,

Direct Admin, Plesk, InterWorx, H-Sphere and many other control panel products. Most of the big

hosting companies use their own  developed control panel.

In shared hosting, the provider is  responsible for managing servers, installing server software,

security updates, technical support, and other service. Most servers are based on the

Linux operating system and LAMP (software bundle), which  driven by the reliability and security of

open source software such as Linux and Apache (the 'L' and 'A' of LAMP). Other providers offer

Microsoft Windows-based or FreeBSD-based solutions. Linux and Windows Server-side facilities for

either OS have similar functionality (for example: MySQL (database) and server-side programming languages

(like the widely used PHP web programming language) under Linux, or the proprietary SQL Server

(database) and ASP.NET programming language under Windows).

There are thousands of shared hosting providers in the United State's alone. They range

from big to small design firms to multi-million-dollar providers with hundreds of

thousands of customers. A large portion of the shared web hosting market is driven by pay per

click (PPC) advertising or Affiliate programs while some purely non-profit.

Shared web hosting can also be done privately by sharing the cost of running a server in a co-location center they called it cooperative hosting.
